The work depicts granary silos near Greenwood, Nebraska on State Highway 6.  I painted this typical Nebraska rural scene using a muted  triadic color scheme (violet:orange:green) to provide a more subdued mood to soften the power projected by the large silos. The  diagonal shapes of the shed roofs and the highway pavement balance the strong verticals of the silos. The passing auto in the foreground gives some kinetic energy and immediacy to the scene.  The shaded convergence of the various buildings under the mid-ground trestle provides a visual repose.  Silos like these dominate the plains landscape and are for me a great challenge to portray in an engaging and artistic way. Sold mounted and matted, not framed.
